The Aurora Australis, also known as the southern lights, graced South Australia’s night skies on Monday 24 April 2023.
The natural wonder put on a show with visibility at its peak between 8pm and 9pm along the south and west coast of our state.
The intense solar storm left stargazers awe-inspired across the US, Europe, and Asia for their Aurora Borealis counterpart, with the rare phenomenon reaching further than their typical polar boundaries.
Hues of purple, orange, pink, green, and colours in between were captured by photographers across the globe during the display, and South Australia was no exception. Take a look at the Aurora Australis images from various vantage points in our state.
