Ah Adelaide, the city where music runs deeply through its veins. It is Australia’s first, and only, UNESCO City of Music, and is responsible for producing iconic Australian bands including The Master’s Apprentices, The Twilights, Cold Chisel, The Angels, and Superjesus; as well as hip-hop group Hilltop Hoods, and singer-songwriters Paul Kelly, Sia Furler, and Guy Sebastian. And adding to the list of musical experiences that make our city tick are the new Wednesday Blues nights at the Marion Hotel.
From 6pm onward every Wednesday night, the hotel’s garden will bring the beat with a rotation of some of South Australia’s best blues artists, starting with Joe: Acoustic Soul on Wednesday 24 August. The nights are free for all, allowing everyone from all walks of life to come and enjoy the soulful tunes.
The Marion Hotel is known for its live acoustic music and weekend DJs, and they are now taking their range to another level. After their successful Winter Blues nights throughout June and July which saw guests letting loose on the dancefloor, it gave inspiration to Marion Hotel Manager, Meegan Gibbons to bring blues back to The Marion.
“We are really excited to bring something different to The Marion. Once we saw how excited our guests were about blues music, we knew we needed to make it a regular occurrence,” Meegan shares.
The Marion Hotel has been recognised for its unique hospitality experience, having won South Australian 2021 Awards of Excellence, Best Overall Hotel 2020-2021, and Best Meeting & Events Venue in recent years. With the hotel’s bright and timber-laden interior, live plants, and open-air ceilings, it makes for a delightful setting to bask in some weeknight sounds.
Wednesday Blues is set to run weekly; expanding the live entertainment range of Marion Hotel and creating something for well and truly everyone – oh and there’s $15 whisky sours on hand too!
