You might recognise the name ‘Comida’ from you travels up to the Adelaide Hills’ village of Hahndorf where the delightful tapas bar and restaurant, Comida resides.
And you wouldn’t be mistaken if you’ve seen the exact same name floating around Adelaide Fringe’s parklands venue, Gluttony on East Terrace.
The popular South Australian restaurant has set up shop lakeside, smack bang in the middle of Rymill Park/Murlawirrapurka for the entirety of Fringe season – that being from 17 February until 19 March 2023.
Comida Beuna Onda makes its debut as the Fringe’s first ever pop-up restaurant by an existing and established venue; fully serviced and complete with glassware, cutlery, and linen – the whole dining shebang.
Owner and Head Chef, Brad Sappenberghs has worked meticulously with his team to deliver an innovative ‘Feed Me’ menu at $69 per person, with the addition of an all-vegetarian and vegan-friendly menu for our herbivorous friends.
The Comida Beuna Onda menu changes weekly, keeping the mystic alive if you’d like to visit more than once. But here’s what they’ve been serving over the past week:
- Mushroom and Manchego cheese croqueta
- Kingfish ceviche, burnt cucumber dressing, potato cracker
- Chicken and chorizo terrine, date and apple
- Nomad farms chicken, green tomato chimichurri
- Pit roasted broccoli, ajo blanco, currants and pickles
- Eggplant, pomegranate, buckwheat, baba ganoosh
The meats on offer are cooked to perfection over a custom-built fire pit, while the wine list includes local wines and some international selections, plus Sangria up for grabs (or gulps) by glass or carafe – what a combo.
Comida Beuna Onda restaurant will operate six nights a week, Tuesdays through to Sundays, with bookings definitely recommended.
And once you have finished dining, why not continue the wining at Gluttony’s new hideout, Club Curious – an all-new, late-night playground for abstract minds and colourful souls seeking the unusual.
Once inside you’ll encounter roving performances, interactive art installations, and immersive experiences full of curious characters. You can experience Club Curious from Thursdays through to Saturdays until late.
