An experience that’s been backed by psychologists as an ‘amplified’ way to enjoy food, the enticing ‘Dining In The Dark’ events made their way to Adelaide and wowed. Guests stepped inside a restaurant blanketed in darkness and were served a three-course meal—the flavours and textures of which were intensified by the remaining senses.
On select Wednesday nights, though, the three-course meal has been replaced with a special Wine and Cheese ‘Dining in the Dark’ tasting experience at one of Adelaide’s most unique wine bars: The Local Wine Co.
Will you be served Pinot Noir, a Sauvignon Blanc or maybe a Riesling? Honestly, we don’t know and we can’t tell you. What we can tell you is that The Local Wine Co. are specialists in wine and specialists in creating memorable moments.
For the ‘Dining in the Dark’ Wine and Cheese special, their team will select three top tier wines from their range for you to try and taste while you are blindfolded. They will also serve guests a charcuterie and cheese board or vegetarian cheese board to pair the three wines with.
And we all already know that various wines and cheese are a phenomenal combination of flavours and textures that have tantalised tastebuds since they were first discovered. But, the question remains, how will this be affected when you can’t see what you’re tasting? Studies suggest the savouring experience will be magnified, but you’ll have to sign up to find out for yourself.
Blindfolds will be provided to all guests, which will help to heighten their other senses but also help stop them from peeking at what’s in their glass or on their tasting plate. Guests will also be led into the darkened environment by a “guide” who’ll be on hand to make sure you don’t bump into anything on your way in.
Adelaide’s ‘Dining in the Dark’ Wine and Cheese events will take place on select Wednesdays, with two seatings at 6pm and 8pm. Hit the link below to find exact dates.
