As you might’ve heard, there’s a new movie coming out based on the life of Elvis Presley A.K.A The King of Rock ‘N’ Roll. The highly anticipated biopic stars Austin Butler as Elvis. And up until this week, we’ve only seen a short trailer for ‘Elvis’.
The expanded trailer that’s dropped, however, shows us much more, including a short snippet of Elvis with his future wife Priscilla.
In the 2022 ‘Elvis’ movie, Elvis Presley is played by Austin Butler, who has managed to step up with his ability to match the King’s voice. Joining him is a star-studded cast such as Tom Hanks playing Elvis’ manager Colonel Tom Parker, as well as Maggie Gyllenhaal, Olivia DeJonge, Dacre Montgomery, and Kodi Smit-McPhee.
The story spans 20 years of Presley’s life, from his rise to fame in the 50s and the complicated relationship he had with his manager through to his love life with Priscilla. Butler was reportedly coached well in advance to shooting so that his voice could sound as similar to Presley’s as possible. This included watching plenty of Elvis’ past concerts.
Aside from Butler’s take on those classic Elvis tunes, we can expect to hear a mixed bag of songs on the overall soundtrack, including those from Stevie Nicks, Eminem, Tame Impala, and more.
You can watch ‘Elvis’ in Australian cinemas from June 23, 2022.
