@Lenswood is known for producing some of Australia’s best apples and cherries. Apple production on the 23-acre orchard in the Adelaide Hills dates back to the 1800s. And during the season, which runs from early March to late May, you can visit the orchard on weekends and some weekdays, wander within the apple trees and pick your own.
There’s something about picking your own produce and eating it that tastes different. And at @Lenswood, which is just 40 minutes from Adelaide, you’ll get this and much more. Entry to the orchard costs just $5 per adult and $2 per child, and for an extra $5 on top of that, you can pick a whole kilo of fresh apples.
@Lenswood has a wide range of apple varieties on their orchard: Fuji, Fuji Brazil, Golden Delicious, Red Delicious, Pink Lady, Rosy Glow, Sun Downers, Granny Smiths, Royal Gala, Galaxy Gala, and Buckeye Gala. So if you’re an apple fanatic, you might even find yourself trying a variety you’ve never tried before.
We also recommend trying their homemade apple juice, which is available throughout the season, alongside coffee and food vans on-site most weekends.
A visit to @Lenswood is an apple-solutely wholesome day trip from the city, where you can set up a picnic rug, relax, and enjoy the views: all the while tucking into some delicious local delights. Luxury accommodation will soon be available too, so you can turn your pick-your-own adventure into a weekend getaway amongst the vines.
You can find the orchard at 122 Harris Road, Lenswood
