Light Cycles sold-out its season in Illuminate Adelaide’s inaugural festival in 2021. This July, it’s back by popular demand and Montreal Studio Moment Factory is back at the helm to create another wondrous experience in the Adelaide Botanic Garden for all of us to enjoy – and it’s opening tomorrow evening, 7 July 2022.
Installations using light, scenography, audio, video content and special effects will enchant and envelop audiences who will journey through the lush surroundings on a curated trail. The natural world will be lit up, seen anew and astonish as it seemingly comes alive through the night. Imaginations will run wild and feelings will stir during the 60-90 minute experience.
Collaborating with local lighting and technical designers to deliver this site-specific work, Moment Factory will once again work its magic on a tree-lined avenue and celebrate the glory of the setting sun as well as turn the garden’s Palm House into a spectacle of story and song thanks to cutting-light projections, lasers and an original soundtrack.
Illuminate Adelaide’s co-founders and creative directors, Rachael Azzopardi and Lee Cumberlidge said: “Moment Factory have redesigned the popular installation Crystal Grove to expand its reach across the conifer lawn and with Reflection Lake, they are using new technologies to illustrate the break of dawn over Center Lake. This will connect guests to the garden in a whole new way.”
Since Moment Factory’s last visit to Adelaide, the studio has wowed audiences at the internationally renowned Musée de I’Armée at the Hotel National des Invalides in Paris where they unveiled a series of new installations. You know what that means, right?
Make sure to get your hands on tickets quick because if last year is anything to go by, it will sell out once word spreads about how truly magical the Adelaide Botanic Garden is at night (again). Light Cycles is on from July 7 to 31 and the Light Cycles Bar also makes a return.
Light Cycles is just one of the many fantastic offerings Illuminate Adelaide has in store this year, which includes the Gorillaz, The Avalanches, the ground-breaking international series KLASSIK underground and a whole heap of free events as well.
