After Frozen the Musical took to the stage in Adelaide recently, we’ve been needing something new but nostalgic to kick back and relax to. In exciting news, everyone’s favourite nanny is making her way to the Adelaide Festival Centre this July. The musical is co-created and produced by Cameron Mackintosh and Disney, and has just done the rounds up in Brisbane before heading down our way.
Based on the beloved stories by Australian author PL Travers and the original Disney film, the Tony and Olivier award-winning production of Mary Poppins is a theatrical spectacular that has delighted tens of millions of people around the globe.
The much-loved tale tells the story of a magical nanny who is employed to take care of two mischievous children. What follows is a tale of magic and adventure that has warmed the hearts of many over the years. If you adored the film as a kid, or as a parent, then you’ll love this stage adaptation.
The musical has already wowed crowds at the Australian-premiere Sydney season, and now it’s our turn to experience the magic. Adelaideians can look forward to an unforgettable stage production, some breath-taking music, and remarkable dance numbers.
President and Producer of Disney Theatrical Productions, Thomas Schumacher, says, “Adelaide holds a special place in my heart. I first produced shows there in the 1970s and I am beyond thrilled to bring Mary Poppins, which also holds a special place in my heart, to Adelaide for the very first time.
“Audiences fell in love with this production 12 years ago, and a whole new generation has fallen in love with it all over again since we arrived in Sydney last year.
“Seeing the way audiences have embraced this brilliant company there, and in Brisbane and Melbourne, has been astonishing and I know Adelaide will feel exactly the same.”
Mary Poppins will play in Adelaide between Saturday 1 July and Sunday 20 August 2023. Nab your tickets here!
