The school holidays are approaching, and we know parents are already wondering how to keep their kids entertained for the two-week stretch. Luckily Adelaide has a variety of kid-friendly activities available during the holidays that the whole family can enjoy. Here are 7 fun things to do during the school holidays that kids will love!
The Art of Banksy: “Without Limits” Exhibition
The Art of Banksy: “Without Limits” Exhibition will be open during the school holiday, and is the perfect activity to do as a family. Located in the Myer Center, the museum quality exhibition shows iconic Banksy artworks including original works, prints on different kinds of materials, lithographs, photos, sculptures, murals, installations, and many more. With over 150 artworks on display, both kids and adults will be captivated. Tickets start at $38 per person, but Family Bundle Tickets are also available making this experience even more accessible!
Mount Lofty Adventure Hubs
Embark on a day of adventure and adrenaline at the Mount Lofty Adventure Hub. Located amidst the beautiful forests of Woodhouse Activity Centre incorporating the natural forest and streams, this is a great way to spend some time in nature. The experience includes 15-metre rock climbing, a unique 3-person Mega Swing and a jaw-dropping 324m forest zipline (SA’s longest). While the adventure park is suitable for the whole family, children under 17 years of age need to be accompanied by an adult.
Art Classes at Little Picassos
The school holidays are a great time for kids to be creative, and let their imaginations run wild! An ideal place for them to do this, in a supervised and structured manner, is at the Little Picasso Art Center. There are a variety of venues around Adelaide that all offer a special school holiday programme with classes for children between 2.5 and 16 years old.
Bounce Trampoline Park
Burn off any extra energy at Bounce Trampoline Park! The freestyle arena includes 50 interconnected trampolines, tumble tracks and banked walls to create the ultimate trampoline experience. See who can jump the highest, practice your forward flips, or just bounce until you can’t bounce anymore. Adelaide Zoo
Spend a day feeding giraffes, spotting pandas and stroking meerkats! The Adelaide Zoo offers activities, educational talks and experiences that will have the whole family entertained. From September 30 to October 15, Adelaide Zoo is also hosting a special School Holiday programme! Besides being able to marvel at an incredible variety of wildlife, kids can also take part in free craft activities and art classes.
Hiccup Theatre Production
Treat your kids to a day in the theatre for the stage production of Hiccup. You will join three unlikely friends as they embark on a psychedelic search for the great hiccup cure. With a catchy soundtrack, stadium spectacular lights and particularly cheeky quokka, Hiccup is a hilarious comedy that will have the audience in stitches!
Seal Island Boat Tour
Enjoy a family day out on this exciting 45-minute ocean boat ride. Your first stop will be Seal Island to see seals, sea lions and nesting seabirds in their natural habitat. You will then head towards Wright Island to hear the whaling history of Encounter Bay and to search for Bottlenose dolphins. To end off your day out to sea you’ll return along Granite Island’s spectacular coastline to the causeway landing.
