In the cultures of Germany, the Netherlands and Switzerland, Schützenfests are held as a traditional festival that centres around a target shooting competition.
Lucky for us, there’s one coming to Gawler in January 2023, jam-packed with steins and entertainment aplenty. So if you don’t want to wait a whole year after Oktoberfest to party like you’re in Germany, then you mustn’t miss Schützenfest South Australia.
While target shooting doesn’t sound family-friendly in the slightest, Schützenfest South Australia will modify the competition so that it is so. You can take your accuracy skills to the test by becoming a contestant. Or if you’d just like to watch, then that’s totally fine too.
Over the day, you can expect plenty of German eats, music, and beer on tap of course. Did someone say giant pretzel paired with an iced cold stein? Yes please!
There will also be games and attractions to keep the little ones occupied, all in an outdoor setting.
Event dates and exact location haven’t been announced as of yet, but you can follow the Schützenfest South Australia Facebook page to stay updated in meantime.
You can also get keen for Hahndorf Oktoberfest, which is happening on October 15, 2022.
