The Semaphore Foreshore is a choice spot for a few things: hanging out at the beach, meeting up with the gang for a barbecue, or grabbing a drink at the Palais, just to name a few. It’s also the location of festivals, a summer carnival as well as the scenic Sephamore Jetty. Just when we thought this local hangout couldn’t get any better, plans have been revealed to upgrade the Foreshore.
The City of Port Adelaide Enfield aims to transform the area into a more functional, accessible and family-friendly hub for locals and tourists alike, including the introduction of wide pathways and a water play space families can enjoy during the summer.
The proposed design also includes more shaded areas, a new and improved ramp to the beach, artworks and sculptures connected to Kaurna storytelling, as well as a kiosk and café building complete with community facilities.
The revamped Semaphore Promenade envisions a youth hub with a brand-new skate park, basketball court, and fitness equipment.
City of Port Adelaide Enfield has put the draft of the design up for public review. You can provide feedback by heading to one of the information sessions at Semaphore Central Plaza on Saturday, July 2 from 10am – 1pm or Tuesday, July 5 from 9am – 11am.
