Divorced, beheaded, died, divorced, beheaded, survived. If that’s all you know about Henry VIII and his six wives, then strap yourselves in. A witty, pop-fuelled musical about the six wives is currently touring around Australia, and it’s going to be a thrilling ride. See Catherine of Aragon, Anne Boleyn, Jane Seymour, Anna of Cleves, Katherine Howard and Catherine Parr take the mic and tell their stories for all to hear. SIX the Musical will play at Her Majesty’s Theatre from May 21.
SIX the Musical
After completing a record-breaking, 15-week run at the Sydney Opera House in December last year, SIX the Musical is finally coming to Melbourne this winter.
In this exciting show, which is part musical, part pop concert and part history lesson, the Tudor wives take inspiration from iconic performers like Beyoncé, Adele, Ariana Grande, Britney Spears, Nicki Minaj and Rihanna. Watch them remix their years of heartbreak into a celebration of girl power, and argue over who had it worse when married to Henry VIII.
This phenomenal musical started out as a student production at Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2017. It was nominated for five Olivier Awards, including Best New Musical, and played sold-out shows in London’s West End. Its Studio Album has also dominated the Internet, with over 450 million streams worldwide, and over 3 billion views on TikTok. Now, the queens at SIX are determined to expand their reign, and have started performing in Broadway and across Australia.
Tour dates:
SIX will continue its Australian tour by performing at Her Majesty’s Theatre in Adelaide from May 21. Then, it will take over the Comedy Theatre in Melbourne from June 17. Tickets are available now. Waitlists are also open for Brisbane and New Zealand shows.
