According to early records, the first ever trial in Adelaide took place in January 1837. At that time, the court system was still in its infancy and little is known about the case. What we do know, however, is that with no prisons constructed, the accused were actually detained on ships. Now, over 180 years since the city’s first ever trial, ‘The Jury Experience’ brings a realistic courtroom drama to life in Adelaide. It’s a gripping live theatre show packed with tension and suspense that ultimately gets you as the juror to decide — guilty or innocent?
Taking place inside Woodville Town Hall on selected dates over the coming months, ‘The Jury Experience’ puts the fate of the accused in your hands. Less than 20 minutes from the Adelaide CBD, the state-of-the-art theatre is a key cultural hub for Western Adelaide. Tickets are on sale now but spaces are limited, so make sure you get yours today!
What is ‘The Jury Experience’?
‘The Jury Experience’ offers a theatrical courtroom drama where the audience is more than a spectator; they are the jury. By fusing live theatre and storytelling, this interactive experience challenges the audience to consider complex philosophical, moral and scientific questions. Compelling performances from professional actors drive the narrative, all guided by the thought-provoking premise: “The defendant’s fate rests in your hands…”.
What is the trial about?
At the heart of the trial lies an exploration of details and their presentation, using a self-driving car accident as the focal point. The jurors must determine accountability in situations where autonomous vehicles are involved. Questions of vehicle safety and the specific evidence required to establish guilt or innocence take centre stage.
