Yep, you heard that right – The Smashing Pumpkins are en route to Australia are they’re bringing their The World Is A Vampire tour to Adelaide as part of their national tour which includes a whopping ten cities down under.
The tour is a bit like a festival really – starring some huge names in the musical world, plus each show will feature professional wrestling matches between Billy Corgan’s NWA (National Wrestling Alliance) and the WAOA (Wrestling Alliance of Australia) – weird, but we’ll take it!
Joining The Smashing Pumpkins on the stages across the country are alt-rock legends Jane’s Addiction, and beaut Aussie rock from Amyl & The Sniffers, RedHook, Battlesnake, and local acts of each region to open every show.
If you’re unfamiliar with The Smashing Pumpkins, the four-piece American alt-rock band formed in 1988 and were one of the most commercially successful and critically acclaimed bands of the 1990s, often cited as one of the most influential acts in alternative rock, according to One World Entertianment.
The S’Pumpkin’s top hits on Spotify enlist: 1979, Bullet With Butterfly Wings, Zero, Tonight Tonight, and Today. With their latest album, Atum: A Rock Opera In Three Acts released in 2023, dubbed as the sequel to 1995s Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness, and 2000s Machina/Machine of God.
As for the pro-wrestling that will be going down, featured talents include NWA Women’s World Champion Kamille, NWA World Tag Team Champions Bestia 666 and Mecha Wolf, NWA World Junior Heavyweight Champion Kerry Morton, Natalia Markova, Thom Latimer, Mercurio, Missa Kate and a whole bunch more – it’s going to be a belter.
