Sweet dreams are made of desserts, not dinner.
Adelaide is getting a new cafe specialising in desserts, which makes us pretty excited because if there’s one thing we never want enough of, it’s places where we can go get our sugary fix.
For whenever you’re in the mood for something a little more devilish, dark, or decadent, check out one of these places.
1. Seoul Sweetie, CBD
Adelaide’s newest edition to the dessert cafe scene is Seoul Sweetie, the ‘girlfriend’ to Busan Baby—the Korean joint that opened up earlier this year on Morphett Street. Seoul Sweetie is headed by Dessert chef Jinny, who hails from Seoul, and who is the genius behind the chiffon cakes served up at Busan Baby.
Jinny is heading up the new venture, which opens on Thursday 29 October from 6:30pm till late, and will see the latest dessert and coffee trends in Korea land in the hot little hands of Adelaidians. If you don’t know, you should know that there’s probably nowhere in the world that does more trendy desserts than Korea. Like, have you ever heard of the Croiffle or the Fatcaron?
Just in time for summer too, Seoul Sister will be serving up Bingsu, ice shaved so thin and topped with a range of flavours.
Find Seoul Sister at 270 Morphett Street
2. Black Cherry Dessert Bar, Hahndorf
For when you’re out of the city in the Adelaide Hills and still need to get your fix of all things sweet, Black Cherry Dessert Bar in Hahndorf is your go-to destination. Having recently opened as well, this dessert cafe has all the cakes, waffles, meringues, mousses and slices any fiend would sink their chomps into. All of which are made on premises if they haven’t been sourced from South Australian patisseries.
Black Cherry also has a ‘Free From’ range of desserts so those of us with intolerances and dietary requirements can still engorge ourselves on the foods that make life worth living.
Find Black Cherry Dessert Bar at 13-15 Mount Barker Road
3. Shibui Dessert Bar, CBD
Have you scrolled through Shibui’s Instagram account yet? You should, because when they said pictures are worth a thousand words, they omitted the info about the drool that would be forming in your mouth as you scrolled.
Shibui is not about OTT desserts, ice creams or shakes. However, they are about quality and every ingredient on each dish has been placed there for a reason. Sometimes less is more.
Find Shibu Dessert bar at Shop 2/160 Grote Street
