Get ready to shake and shimmy when the feel-good and fabulous Hairspray the Musical comes to town. Soon to premiere at Melbourne’s Regent Theatre, the musical will then make its way to Adelaide’s Festival Theatre, and Sydney’s Lyric Theatre. Director Jack O’Brien (Charlie and the Chocolate Factory) and Choreographer Jerry Mitchell (Kinky Boots), lead the original Broadway creative team in this fun and endearing production.

Several beloved Aussie performers will take to the stage including Shane Jacobson, who will star as beloved housewife Edna Turnblad. Todd McKenney will star as Wilbur Turnblad along with Rhonda Burchmore as the nefarious Velma Von Tussle. Asabi Goodman will play Donna Lee and Carmel Rodrigues will take on the role of Tracy Turnblad.
Hairspray the Musical tells the delightful story of dance enthusiast Tracy Turnblad who long harbours a dream to dance on The Corny Collins Show. When her dream comes true, she becomes an overnight sensation and a trendsetter in dance and fashion along with winning the affections of heartthrob Link Larkin.
The heartwarming musical embodies a great message of body positivity and equality while being consistently fun and lighthearted.
