LOC Bottle Bar is the bricks-and-mortar store of LOC Bottle Shop, Adelaide’s online lo-fi wine seller.
Olivia Moore, the owner of Adelaide’s newest venture, is keen to finally have a bricks-and-mortar bar as opposed to the online-only retail space she has been selling her collection of world-class natural wines. Curiously, this began during the nationwide shutdown, but now the wait is finally over with LOC Bottle Bar having opened this week.
The space has been designed to create a friendly, cosy, and lived-in vibe reminiscent of an open-plan kitchen at your mate’s place where they’re on the same side of the counter telling you all about the wine they’re pouring you.
The back wall of the space will hold something like 170 bottles, and, similar to a retail space, will allow guests to choose a drop directly off of the wall. If you’re unable to choose, unsure as to what you want, then have no fear because Olivia and her staff will be on hand to carefully select the right grape for your taste buds.
The natural wines come from all over Australia with a few bottles also arriving from Europe. All of them, though, showcase the exceptional quality of the producers who add nothing to their wines (except maybe a little sulfur, sometimes) so that the fruit juice speaks for itself.
LOC Bottle Bar has taken over the vacant hairdresser in Hindmarsh Square and is able to serve eighteen people inside and sit 33 outside. Bookings can be made through their website.
Bring on summer!
