The springtime is making a glorious comeback and the sunshine is doing a mighty fine job at enticing us all out of hibernation. And to ease that process, WellFest is back with a line-up of health and well-being inspired activities during the month of October.
For its second year running, WellFest sees the CBD and North Adelaide come alive with jam-packed program of world-class events and activations in collaboration with local businesses which are said to inspire your inner zen.
This year’s program is bigger and better than ever, and with a ha-uge list to choose from, there might just be something that tickles your fancy. From forest bathing at the Adelaide Zoo to meditation at the Museum, and Himalayan salt cave sound bath sessions.
If you’re not one that’s very good at sitting still during the whole meditation thing however, there’s a bunch of food-related events going down too where a bit more of a calamity is welcome.
These include: the East End Cellars Long Lunch with local flavours championed across a three-course meal. The Vegan Picnic which will showcase over 50 of Adelaide’s most loved vegan vendors and retail outlets. And Wellness Tour which takes you about Adelaide Central Market where you can enjoy samples from local stalls while learning about all about nutrition.
And if you’re after something a little more hands-on, get your paddle on with the Adelaide City Kayak Tour which takes you along the ever-so peaceful River Torrens. Or try your moves at the First Nations Dance Workshop with Tjarutja Dance Theatre Collection where you can enrich your understanding of the signature Kuarna and Ngarrindjeri storytelling techniques used in dance…plus snack on a tasty lunch which uses indigenous ingredients.
WellFest Adelaide has come to fruition thanks to the Adelaide Economic Development Agency (AEDA) and aims to shine a light on South Australia as an emerging destination in well-being tourism.
AEDA Managing Director, Ian Hill says “Our aspiration is for WellFest Adelaide to be what South by Southwest is for Austin. That’s our vision. We have continued to expand on the success of the inaugural event, as we envisage WellFest Adelaide being another jewel in the crown of South Australia’s world-class suite of festivals, and a global destination in well-being.”
Ian also shares that WellFest Adelaide focuses on the six pillars of well-being identified by McKinsey and Company in research conducted in 2021 – health, fitness, nutrition, appearance, sleep, and mindfulness.
In addition to massive list of unique experiences on offer, AEDA will present a key hero event on Saturday 22 October – Rundle Mall’s Biggest Yoga Session. All proceeds from this even will be donated to mental health and well-being support organisation, Beyond Blue.
“Adelaide is one of most liveable cities in the world offering transformative and engaging
wellbeing experiences, and we want city users and visitors alike to be part of the festivities,” Ian concludes.
WellFest Adelaide is running from now until Saturday 30 October. Check out the full program using the link below. Stay healthful, Adelaide!
