We love a good pizza and pasta as much as the next person, but don’t be fooled, Italian culture isn’t limited to delicious carbohydrates. Returning for its fourth year, the Adelaide Italian Festival is set to show you what Italy’s world-class offerings are all about.
For a full ten days, running from Friday 10 through to Sunday 19 November, the Adelaide Italian Festival is once again anticipated to showcase 55 events – both day and into the night in true Italian style. Although the full 2023 program is yet to launch, the Adelaide Italian Festival has revealed it is bringing back its signature events once again.
The Adelaide Italian Festival’s signature pre-event, La Grande Gita is set to go forth; a family-friendly Italian-style bike ride through the picturesque Barossa Valley with delicious local food and wine offerings along the way. The bike ride sees a relaxing taste for what’s to come, but also contrasts the official Opening Night Street Party on Friday 10 which will see Adelaide’s East End transform into Little Italy for the night.
Other festival highlights include the Journey Mass held at St Francis Xavier’s Cathedral on Saturday 11 to honour the state’s Italian migrants, the Autoclassica on Saturday 12 which sees an all-Italian car and motorbike show that will take over the Torrens Parade Ground for all to enjoy, and a special Closing Gala Dinner on Saturday 18 to thank all those who make the festival possible with one last hurrah. The festival also offers a range of free events for all to enjoy.
While the full program hasn’t been curated yet, Tania Milohis, newly appointed Chair of the Adelaide Italian Festival is calling on people to get involved in the 2023 celebration.
“South Australia is home to a vibrant community of citizens with Italian heritage and we are looking for events that can showcase both tradition and modern culture in a range of categories like food and wine, arts and culture, fashion, cars and technology,” Tania shares.
In previous years, the Adelaide Italian Festival has featured a range of different affairs from regional dinners, to cooking classes and demonstrations, art and historic tours, exhibitions, fashion, and many more exciting happenings – registering your interest to be part of the festival is very welcome.
The Adelaide Italian Festival has its sights set on becoming the world’s greatest Italian Festival while it continues to provide the opportunity for people to celebrate Italy’s world-class food and wine, art, culture, technology, and traditions.
