When it comes to comedy and circus shows, there are few better in the game than Australia’s internationally acclaimed circus comedy troupe, Dummies Corp. They’ve been producing phenomenal, multi-award-winning circus and comedy shows for years and are no strangers to Adelaide Fringe. This year they’re back with The Détective in Cirque Noir—an adult circus comedy featuring four of our top talent on the stage.
The daring and delightful new spectacle that marries noir, aerial acrobatics and hilarious slapstick comedy comes to Adelaide hot off the heels of a successful Melbourne premiere, where it will return for the comedy festival very soon. There’s also a side of burlesque, a thrilling car chase and a murder mystery to solve all the while evading crooks and the advances of the femme fatale.
It’s a top priority mission featuring the gifted Amy Nightingale-Olsen, Thomas McDonald, and Leigh Rhodes as well as internationally-renowned puppeteer David Splatt, who you’ve probably seen before as a finalist on Australia’s Got Talent. Together, they’re the Détectives in Cirque Noir and not even the audience is safe from interrogation.
“The Détectives in Cirque Noir is a … hilarious, always-spectacular romp featuring three of Australia’s greatest clowns in a show that makes a mockery of Chandler and a hero of Buster Keaton.”(Theatre Travels)
The spectacular and hilarious show also features an original musical score by Mal Webb from The Adventures of Lano and Woodley fame in this whodunnit homage to noir, cheap dames and dirty tricks.
Détective in Cirque Noir is on stage at Ukiyo at Gluttony as part of the Adelaide Fringe from 18 February to 20 March.
