Doughnuts and Lotus Biscoff – two of life’s greatest wonders. Smoosh the pair together and you’ve got yourself a mighty fine combo. And that’s exactly what famed doughnut-eers, Krispy Kreme have gone and done.
In some sweet news and a South Australian first, Krispy Kreme has teamed up with the God-tier, cult brand, Lotus Biscoff to create two indulgently biscuity limited-edition treats.
One said treat is the Lotus Biscoff crème doughnut; an Original Glazed doughnut smothered in Lotus Biscoff spread and finished with a hand-drizzled swirl of Lotus Biscoff crème.
The second creation is a Lotus Biscoff cheesecake doughnut, which consists of a signature shell dipped in Lotus Biscoff spread, filled with cream cheese frosting and finished with Lotus Biscoff biscuit crumbs and a chocolate ganache drizzle – holy smokes.
Perhaps you’re not familiar with the current Biscoff craze at all – allow us to explain.
In 1932 a Belgian baker called Jan Boone Sr., created a cookie and dubed it the Lotus Biscoff – named after the lotus flower that symbolises purity. ‘Tis but a perfect, caramelised biscuit that combines strong notes of brown sugar, butter and a mild spiced flavours.
Fast forward exactly 91 years to 2023 where the Lotus Biscoff has evolved and emerged like a beautiful swan into a decedent spread – a spreadable cookie, if you will. It’s basically the new Nutella.
Head of Krispy Kreme SA, Carly Higgerson says, “Krispy Kreme is known for its wildly imaginative collaborations, so we always listen to our customers to see what they want to see or taste next. Bringing the official Lotus Biscoff Krispy Kreme collaboration to South Australia was a no-brainer and will serve as the perfect treat for any occasion.”
The Lotus Biscoff doughnuts are available at Krispy Kreme stores and On The Run convenience stores across the state for limited time – grab ’em while you can!
