Although summer is sadly on its way out and warm bowls of hearty soup are on their way in; there’s another bowl that beachside goers just can’t seem to get enough of – that of the acai variety.
Yet another shop has opened its doors in Glenelg exclusively slinging the frosty purple fare, Oakberry Acai. And thus far, the people have evidently approved.
During their first week in business, the acai hub dished out over 1,500 bowls of their superfood goodness, in which they are calling a “sensational success.”
With multiple locations across Australia and around the world, we think it’s safe to say that Oakberry Acai know a thing or two about their berries. And if you’re unfamiliar with such things, acai is a berry from the Euterpe palm, a native tree to the Amazon rainforest.
The acai berries are a natural antioxidant, rich in minerals like potassium, calcium, vitamin E, and healthy fatty acids like Omega 6 and 9; and Oakberry’s acai just so happens to be vegan-friendly, organic, gluten-free, and kosher, and further contains no food colorings, artificial preservatives, or guarana syrup.
All the usual offenders can be found on the menu plus a number of funky flavours such as: açaí with toasted honey oats, whey protein, cacao nibs, raspberry and kiwi; açaí with coconut chia pudding, toasted honey oats, coconut flakes, almond butter, strawberry and banana; acai with mango purée, sunflower seeds, honey toasted oats, banana, kiwi and raspberries. You can also build your own!
Conveniently located on Moseley Square, the temptation to dip in to Oakberry Acai and tuck into a healthy sweety treaty is just too strong. Chow down from Tuesdays through to Sundays between 7am and 8pm, and on Mondays from 9am to 8pm.
