The brand spanking new City Skate Park on West Terrace in the CBD has already seen hundreds, if not thousands, of avid skaters take to the concrete since its hugely anticipated opening at the beginning of September 2022. It’s the hip new gathering spot where anything goes, and the City of Adelaide and On The Flip Side have joined forces to bring you a celebratory mini fest, Skate Daze.
The festival is set to go down this Saturday 8 October for a day under the sweet springtime sunshine with live local bands, market stalls, live art, creative workshops, food trucks, and of course, heaps of skating.
Taking to the Skate Daze stage are local legends and pop-punk duo, Towns, Stormy Lou, Lily Rose, The Birds are Spies, and Jongo Bones and the Barefoot Bandits. They’ll be providing the musical goods for pretty much the entire day, between 11:15am until 3:40pm.
As well as the live bands, you’ll also find the Daily Grind and Fast Times Skateboarding teams shredding it up. They’ll be hosting competitions for the best tricks and supplying handy demos – so bring your board and give it ya best shot.
While the market stalls, live art and workshop deets remains a mystery, there’s bound to be something that will catch your eye whether you’re into wheeled travel devices or not. The unknown makes it all the more exciting.
City Skate is now the largest skate park in South Australia, and there’s plenty of grass to plonk your toosh thanks to its parklands location. With a picnic rug on hand, you’ll be set the whole day through.
Skate Daze is an all-ages event, and a free community celebration to welcome the new hub into existence. If you’ve driven down West Terrace in the past month, you’ll already know how wildly popular the activity park is amongst the youth and beyond.
See you down at City Skate from 11am until 4pm on Saturday 8 October – it’s set to be partly cloudy, but with a max. of 14 degrees, so bring a jacket just in case the chill prevails!
