Valentine’s Day is just around the corner. And if you’re looking to plan something fun for you and your date or mates in 2023, then you’ve come to the right place. Adelaide is full of a lovely things to do for the most romantic time of the year. 1. Head up to Beerenberg Farm and pick some juicy strawberries
Strawbs are bright red and basically heart-shaped – they’re the backbone of Valentine’s Day and at the Beerenberg strawberry farm in Hahndorf they’ll be doing half of the work for you as you stroll through the fields and pick the juicy fruits to your heart’s content. While you’re up there, have a snack at The Farm cafe or grab some choccies for the road.

2. Wine and dine at the ever-so funky Singapore Circus in McLaren Vale
This extraordinarily funky restaurant boasts a melting pot of South-East Asian-inspired cuisine, and is said to channel the vibrantly bold flavours that are found at the junctions of colliding cultures. Located inside the five-storey cube-like structure that is the d’Arenberg Cube, Singapore Circus boasts sweeping views of McLaren Vale’s wine region with fare created in a world-class kitchen headed by chef Jamie Steele. 3. Catch a romantic flick at Moonlight Cinema
A Moonlight Cinema in the Adelaide Botanic Gardens – does it get much more romantic than that? V-Day could very well be your last chance to see out the Cinema’s season, as it comes to an end on Sunday 19 February. On Valentine’s week, there are plenty of romantic movies playing on the big screen such as The Notebook, What’s Love Got To Do With It, 10 Things I Hate About You, Pretty Woman, Notting Hill, plus plenty more. 4. Luxe out on a hotel for an epic staycation
If there were any right time to splash out on a hotel room, it would be for Valentine’s. Whether it be a room with a bath and a view, a pool to cool down in, or the luxuries of room service, there are plenty of hotels in Adelaide you can luxe out on for the night. From Eos by SkyCity, Crowne Plaza, and Mayfair Hotel to the exclusive Sequoia Lodge in Crafers, and Thorngrove Manor Hotel in Stirling, there’s somewhere that’ll fit your V-Day desires.
5. Get creative at the new interactive bar, The Light Room
There’s no chance of a dull moment at Adelaide’s newest bar. The Light Room is spread across three huge spaces overlooking Light Square in Adelaide’s CBD and is home to a neutral bar and dining area, a quirky art studio where you can sip amongst local artists’ works on chesterfield couches, and another room with a massive 150sqm of LED screens where you can draw your own digital art using some pretty high-tech gear, complete with French bistro-style chairs in the midst of the darkened room. 6. Get wet with a kayak tour along the River Torrens
Shake your body like a salmon floating up stream…but on a kayak. See the city sights for a beaut 90 minutes with a guided tour along the River Torrens. You can even book in for a sunset kayak tour making the experience just that little bit more romantic. And if you’re like two peas in a pod – you can basically become one with a double seated kayak. 7. Let your emotions run wild at a screening of the remastered Titanic in 3D
It’s been 25 years since the release of the award-winning film, Titanic. To mark the occasion, a remastered version will be shown in cinemas across Australia from Thursday 9 February. The re-release is in 3D 4K HDR – a vast improvement on the once cutting-edge visuals of the original. 8. Dress up vintage and take a Valentine’s tour through the historic Carrick Hill House
Dress up in some vintage 40s – 70s manor attire and head down to for a special Valentine’s tour of Carrick Hill, the historic house in the Adelaide Hills. Come Sunday 12 February, the tour will take you on a room-by-room exploration and deep-dive into the history of the property. 9. Start the day off right with a delicious brunch from one of Adelaide’s best cafes, as voted by your fellow South Aussies
Why not start your day off with a brunch date before venturing out for the day? There’s nothing like an eggs benny done right, and there are a bunch of local spots that do just that and other brekkie favs. Think Reuben sandwiches, crispy cruffins, drool-worthy pancakes, and the odd loaded bagel crumpet here and there. 10. Have a trusty picnic in the Adelaide or Mount Lofty Botanic Gardens
If being outdoors is the key to their heart, park up a romantic picnic in the convenient and central Adelaide Botanic Gardens or take a lil’ drive up to the Mount Lofty Botanic Gardens in the Adelaide Hills (it’s only a 25-minute drive up the freeway). All you have to do is bring rug or chairs, grab some snacks and chuck together a charcuterie board situation and then enjoy the peaceful, and perhaps cheeky public yet somewhat private energy of the greenery.
