It is well and truly that time of the year to enjoy some indoor activities, and Grounded Lonsdale is the community hub providing that sweet shelter from the elements. Grounded is one of Lonsdale’s newest establishments that encapsulates an array of local, small business stalls and a cafe for all your browsing and snacking requirements. Grounded often lends a space for businesses to host wholesome workshops and up next on the list is Adelaide jewellery icon, Fencesitter.
On Wednesday 6 July, resident stallholder, Fencesitter is hosting a wire and wine workshop, where you can get crafty and make two pairs of wire earrings all while sipping on local wines. On the night you’ll be provided with all the necessary materials to make one pair of Fencesitter’s signature earrings, followed by the opportunity to freehand it and create one of your own designs. This may sound potentially affronting if you’re not too confident with pliers in hand, however Fencesitter owner and accessory expert, Heather McNab will be by your side to guide you through the bendy process.
Along with the ability to proudly flaunt a product brought to life through your very own hands, your ears will be thanking you too for considering the substance which they carry. The wires you’ll be using are gold plated and stainless steel, so your sensitive ears won’t have to suffer in the name of fashion – beauty does not equal pain.
All while manipulating the metal in hand, the supplied local wines probably won’t go astray – who knows what kind of hilarious fabrications may come of this combination. The fare also caters for vegans, our nut-free friends and the gluten-free gang in terms of tasty treats.
If you can’t make it to the workshop on Wednesday 6 July, never fear, Fencesitter’s fine jewellery offerings are permanently stocked at Grounded Lonsdale – alongside 15 other local business’ stalls which includes; clothing, artwork, candles, macrame, pottery and plenty more niche handiwork.
