Each year come July 14, Bastille Day celebrations are in full swing around the world – whether that be by way of hectic French street parties or perhaps meticulous and intimate cheese tastings. It’s commonly referred to as France’s national day and it’s one worth celebrating – but we’ll let you do the history reading in your own time. Without further delay, here are the top five happenings for Bastille Day in Adelaide for 2022.
1. Aurora’s Bastille Day Dinner
On Thursday 14 July, Aurora Restaurant in the CBD will be offering a five course tasting menu to celebrate the glorious day and pay homage to a number of their favourite French chefs and their creations. Each dish will showcase signature French cuisines from different eras and different regions, using different techniques inspired by icons; Damien Pignolet, Michel Troisgros, Pierre Koffmann and Cyriaque Gavillon. On the menu you’ll find dishes with the likes of; fresh bread with snail butter for starters, and a salmon and sorrel a little furthers way into the menu. 2. Bastille Day at the Adelaide Central Market
Spanning from Thursday 14 until Saturday 16 July, the Central Markets will be host to an array of activities and entertainment in honour of the big day. The highlights include; live music, a croquembouche cooking demonstration, gingerbread decorating for kids, roving entertainment, a crepe pop up stall and a champagne bar.
On top of all that, on Friday 15 you can join in on a walking tour of the Market which is bound to satisfy the sensors. You’ll discover authentic French cheeses, charcuterie and pâtisserie, all while sipping on a glass of French champagne.
