Rundle Mall and Rundle Street has seen a number of very cute patisseries and tea rooms grace the vicinities as of late. Namely Cielo in the charming Adelaide Arcade and the quaint, Victorian-style Curiositeas in Adelaide’s East End. And now, a small French patisserie by the name of Les Deux Coqs has set up shop smack bang in the middle of the Mall.
Taking up residence in a pastel blue shipping container in the pedestrian thoroughfare outside of Hotel Richmond, Les Deux Coqs is bringing a range of their treats from their existing Central Market stall. Charcuterie, baked goods like canele, macaroons, eclairs and gallettes, breads and of course, croissants are still up for grabs.
While new treats specifically made for the Rundle Mall location are giving the second Les Deux Coqs an enticing edge. A coconut and Nutella croissant, fresh fruit Danishes, salmon tartine and an alluring Raclette tartine with cheese, potato, ham and cornichons on country-style bread are calling lovers of French cuisine to the central store.
For the festive season, Les Deux Coqs have released a savoury pate croute, and a delicate Santa hat Christmas special filled with chocolate mousse, raspberry jelly, dacquoise and crispy chocolate encased in a raspberry glaze and coconut marshmallow. It’s even gluten-free believe it or not.
Owners Katia Vincon and Bastien Verslype made their way to South Australia from France after a trip in 2012, which saw the duo take root in Adelaide which appeared to be somewhat lacklustre in terms of divine French fare.
Initially popping up at various markets in and around the city, Katia and Bastien built a name for themselves and subsequently secured a permanent storefront in the Central Market come 2018. And over the years have grown to become amongst the creme of the crop. Rest assured you are getting an authentic experience with their patisserie offerings.
“Four years after opening our first shop in Adelaide Central Market, we are extremely happy and proud to open a new shop in another iconic location of Adelaide,” Katia and Bastien share.
Les Deux Coqs’ Rundle Mall patisserie is open on Mondays through to Thursdays from 8am until 5:30pm, Fridays between 8am and 9pm, and Saturdays and Sundays from 9am until 5pm.
“We are thrilled to have opened our new doors on Thursday (8 December) and to see your lovely faces. Thank you for all of your support,” Katia and Bastien finish.
