In huge news for Adelaidian ice cream lovers who have been relying on trips to the eastern states for their Gelato Messina fix over the years; the dessert mecca has announced that they’ll be setting up a permanent shop right here in South Australia.
Gelato Messina owner, Nick Palumbo and his now business partner, Danny are in the midst of brining the iconic, line-up-worthy, ice creamery to a spot in Kent Town – taking over the old Alchemy IronWorks on The Parade. Travel no more for a scooping.
As well as the gelato, Nick and Danny will be taking Adelaide’s Messina to the next level with a full-blown restaurant at the rear of the store – dinner and dessert at its finest of convenience.
Gelato Messina’s Kent Town location will continue serving ice creams with a focus on quality and sustainability at the forefront of the business.
The brothers ensure that almost every product used throughout the ice cream-making process is done in-house for that fresh touch, with the dairy and hazelnuts produced and grown on their own farms to guarantee quality control.
If you’re unfamiliar with Gelato Messina, their ice creams see 40 freshly churned flavours – 35 of which are permanent classics, with five new specials every week. Expect to indulge in scoops with the likes of: real fresh mint gelato with chocolate chip, coffee and salted caramel with whipped cream, Argentinean caramelised milk, Italian nougat, pandan coconut, panna cotta with fig jam and amaretti biscuits – at a glance.
Plus, the team handmakes special dessert toppings each day which complement the ice creams just nicely. As well as exclusive dessert collaborations with local businesses, holiday cakes, and a bunch of vegan options up for grabs.
Gelato Messina Kent Town is anticipated to open mid-2023, if all goes to plan. The new store will grow the Messina ice cream fleet to 27 boutiques within their 21 years in the biz. Get ready to taste the difference.
