If you weren’t already aware, Easter is just around the corner. The festive holiday falls on Sunday 9 April this year, to be exact, with two public holidays on the Friday prior and following Monday. You know what that means? Plenty of time for eating.
And as fate would have it, a clever baker has blessed Adelaide, and perhaps the world with the awe-inspiring hot cross lamington. Oh yes.
Lamingtons and hot cross buns are pretty darn good on any old day, but smoosh the two together and you’ve got yourself a god tier creation which any regular Joe would have a hard time passing up.
At the helm of such wickedly delicious treats is Chaveli Goya of Cielo, a tearoom which opened shop in Adelaide Arcade mid-2022.
Chaveli is a trained pasty chef who holds a passion for the finer things in life with a humble twist. And that twist is shining through this Easter with her amaretto, spiced sponge, dark chocolate, and toasted coconut, hot cross lamingtons. We can’t imagine a more beautiful thing.
You can get your grubby little hands on Chaveli’s masterpieces in-store at the divine Adelaide Arcade locale in Rundle Mall, and at her Gilles At The Grounds market stall on Sunday 2 April from 9am to 3pm. But if you want to play it on the safer side of things, ordering online is advisable.
You can also check out ALDI’s hot cross bun bags, and Coles’ special burger sauce hot cross buns while you await your hot cross lamington order!
